The Real School of Rock

I’ve been listening to music all of my life, and playing the guitar for...oh, I forget. A long time, ok? I played in rock band for eight years, and I was even featured in a magazine for using music in the classroom. On that note––When I say I use music in the classroom, I really mean I USE MUSIC. Just ask my former students. We use it for cleanup and morning meeting. Music helps us gather ideas and write. We not only listen to music, but we “hear” it, think about it, try to understand it. Music is present everyday, and it never gets tired.
Kids love listening to music, but what about making it?Well, I have to say, just as much or even more. Every year my class writes, records, and produces their own songs. Yup, the classroom turns into a recording studio and we rock out! Visit “The Listening Room” to here some of the tracks.
